NTS Commonwealth Scholarship Test 2009… Credibility?
Got this email regarding NTS Commonwealth Scholarship Test held on Sunday September 21, 2008 from a friend of mine who attended the test and shares his bitter experiences:
It is indeed a regret to say that the standard of NTS has fallen down to the worse. In the “Blue Book” which I took in Common Wealth Scholarship 2009, there were questions wrongly written in the book especially the choices given were blunders especially in Analytical portion.
For instance the reprinting of same choice more than once in the same question and in another question all choices negates the fundamental clause of arguments thus making whole question unanswerable. In Math portion one question states that “If there are 50 students in class, 28 are female and 27 are male…….”
This defies the credibility of NTS of such responsible job. If possible award full marks for all wrongly placed questions/choices in exam sheet.
This addresses one of(many) minor issues that NTS has always found to be incapable of combating with.

All victims should be compensated and counter measures must be taken against said organization.

I dont remember this question, but yes there were few questions with same choices repeated in the options. There were mistakes in the paper.

I got the Blue Book and encountered with same problem. There were many questions with wrong statements or options. In few questions, the A-E options were repeated like A and D have the same statements. Now what to mark is a big question and duplication is not allowed. This is major issue for which all candidates should be compensated.

Yes the candidates should not be the victims of the blunders made by the organization.

Candidates are not fairly evaluated for these type of errors and concerned committee should compansate the issue.

I got pink book. where i can’t recall the Question that is qouted here. but as there are some students who are testifying that question was in Blue book. so this is also condemn able bcz all books must have same questions but with different order.
I totally agree with the point raised by “ayesha jameel”, some questions have multiple correct answers. and also uploaded answer keys were suspecting me that some answers were not correct, i can say this atleast for the last mathematics portion.

My Friends it wasn’t happened in only Blue Book, i got white book and exactly same mistakes i have seen as wajahat and ayesha said.

Yes this error was in that question, as I appeared in this test, and I found the error there.

I really want to comment that the publicity for the test invitation was so poor;and also I want you to clearify me if this is the same thing as CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIP

I had the pink book and had the same problem of similar answer choices, the test credibility and the fact that I know people getting Fulbright and even Chevening (which is a tough one to get)but never anyone getting Common wealth makes me wonder if anyone other then those responsible in taking it get the scholarship at all? I see no comprehensive timeline or details of when and how we will be informed. Can anyone inform me if you know ANYTHING about when ,how we would find the results !!! at shue1@live.com.thanks

I got the pink book and I encountered the very similiar blunders in some questions, specially in analytical and maths protion.

The authorities must take action against it and give possible compensation to the candidates and try to avoid such mistakes in future.

i do agree with what all my friends have said about the test.i got white book,i dont exactly remember the questions but i seriously doubt the credibility of the answer sheets put by the nts.i m sure,if these are checked,some mistakes are definitely gonna be found in them.the point is ,how should we proceed to make our complaint heard and get some necessary compensation/lets seriously think about it and give ur suggestions

Hi… Look all 5 different color books having same questions but in different sequence.. so all the persons who appear in the NTS test was victim of it…. 1 more thing anybody know about the final list of selected candidates ?????? Plz tell ?????

just read ur posts and may be its too late now. Anyways, I agree with u ppl. As far as the final selection goes, they should have announced via website. but wat do you expect from them after such a pathetically organized NTS test? I called MOE and checked. call 0519204322 or 0519201404 0r 0519208880 or 0519201401. Punjab Domicile: people with 87 and above test score have been selected. NWFP: 84 and above

as nts is responsible for scholarship programs,it must behave like so.i took test twice but my analytical always be victim of such blunders and my result was unsatisfactory.

I just gave an NTS computer based test where they did not have UPS es for the electricity outages, so when the electricity went (i.e. Twice) , the computers restarted some retrieved data for the autosave / autorecovery feature & some just simp0ly lost data. The venue was Chakshahzad , Comsats Institute Computer labs. NTS should be banned & leageal action should be taken against them surely. Wake up Islamabad!!! Their head office is in our city!.

Probably reading this too late, but would like to tell people that although they may not declare results, the test is actually very fair and merit based, and they do put the top 30 scoring candidates forward, depending on chosen field of study forward. I was one of them and quite a few people form Pakistan do get the scholarship, through this very test, and it is entirely merit based. And these were all people without any connections with the bureaucracy.
Those who are not successful should not really be blaming the organization for being unfair, but hope to do well in the next test. Thousands of people give the test every year, only a handful will be selected so lets not be so bitter and blame the process for it. And these
